The Ranbir and Chitra Gupta School of Infrastructure Design and Management (RCGSIDM) has been started by IIT Kharagpur in the year 2008. It is the first of its kind in India wherein interdisciplinary technical and management skills are given due emphasis in order to foster the demands of the growing infrastructure sector in our country. The school opens its doors to students from various disciplines, including Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering to enrol in the post graduate academic programs it offers.
Since its inception, over hundred students have passed out with M.Tech degrees and three outstanding PhD have been awarded. Three International Symposiums and numerous workshops have been steered to success by the steadfast efforts of its Faculty and students. The School boasts international collaborations with esteemed universities like Columbia University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Georgia Tech University, Lawrence Tech University, University of Tokyo, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Curtin University and so on. The School is currently linked with two mega projects funded by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, namely the “Future of Cities” and “SANDHI”
